Buttermilk Falls in NJ

Buttermilk Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls in New Jersey,
is located in Walpack Township within scenic Sussex County.

This trail begins with a climb to the top of the Falls. From there, the trail continues to make a steep climb up to the Appalachian National Scenic Trail for spectacular views of the valley below. To extend the hike, hike south on the Appalachian Trail to connect with Crater Lake and Hemlock Pond loop trails. (Taken from nps.gov)

This spectacular waterfall cascades down the mountainside just a few feet from the road; it is breathtaking in most seasons, but less so during dry periods. The National Park Service has built interpretive displays along a wooden stairway to the top of the falls, but use caution as it is quite steep and is likely to be damp. Adventurous explorers can take the Buttermilk Falls Blue Trail that climbs 1000 feet above the falls, and ultimately reaches the Appalachian Trail after approximately 1.9 miles. For more information visit http://www.nynjtc.org/trails/ebh/buttermilk.html. Although Mountain Road is unpaved and rough in some areas, it can be rewarding for wildlife-viewing. There are several parking areas, and, as with the other sites in this region, a host of birds can be found, including American Redstart, Common Yellowthroat, Yellow, Blue-winged, Hooded, Magnolia and Northern Parula Warblers, Wood, Veery, Swainson’s and Hermit Thrushes, Eastern Wood Pewee, Great-crested Flycatcher and Blue-gray Gnatcatcher.  (Taken from njwildlifetrails.org)

Lava in the Sky

Is it lava? Or is it Jupiter?

A beautiful sunset that looks like lava in the sky! Or perhaps one would think this is a close-up of the planet Jupiter, but alas, it’s our beautiful Earth!

“Kiss From A Rose”

Too bad these roses weren’t from Seal himself, though…

Roses have been long used as symbols in a number of societies. Roses are ancient symbols of love and beauty. Roses are a favored subject in art and appear in portraits, illustrations, on stamps, as ornaments, or as architectural elements. Roses are a popular crop for both domestic and commercial cut flowers. Generally they are harvested and cut when in bud, and held in refrigerated conditions until ready for display at their point of sale.

Their uses include:

  • ornamental plants
  • cut flowers
  • food and drink
  • medicine
  • culture

A duck pond photo … it was that time.

I figured since it was a comfy early evening, why not take a stroll to the neighborhood pond.  As you can see, the ducks seemed pretty awake and looked like they had somewhere to go.  They were gabbing up a storm, too, lol.  Cute and talkative little fellas.

But then again, I seem to be drawn to ducks.  You can ask my friends!

Hope you like my duck pond photo 🙂

An Amateur Photographer and Wispy Sunsetty Clouds… but first, a brief introduction.

So I finally bought a Nikon camera after constantly using my iPhone 4s to snap pictures of Nature.  Especially weather and sunsets/sunrises.  Basically anything that catches my eye, I’ll try to take a picture.  But Nature is my true love.

Please note:  I’m no way near being a professional photographer…  I’m working on being an amateur photographer first.  It’s important I make that clear so certain types of photographers don’t get on my case for not being real.  I’m still learning and will continue to snap away, regardless whether people think I have a clue or not.

So nyeah!  Smile!
